Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy and Power department has resolved to produce 200,000 barrel oil per day by 2025 and discourage local import mafia of the province to turn the region among the oil rich blocks of the world. The department of the energy and power department on Thursday claimed to have taken unprecedented steps in order to utilize all those blocks contain the potential of rich oil reservoirs. The regions of the KP consist of the rich oil blocks located at Paharpor, Baratai, Pezu, Baska North and Kulachi, an official statement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) said.

All of the bocks are found in the Southern districts of the province, which are mostly considered as the poorest areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While accord-ing to Nouman Akbar General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Human Resource, the gov-ernment trying its level best not only to increase the pro-duction and export of the oil but to reduce the unemploy-ment of the concerned areas of the province by increasing the volume of the revenue. “The implementation of the 18th amendment in the con-stitution of the provincial government can produce and grant all sorts of Non Objection Certificates (NOCs) to all those firms and companies experts in oil production mechanisms and technologies, and for that purpose KPOGCL has setup one-window operation which is providing service in quick allotments of NOCs to all local and international firms”, Nouman Akbar told. However, the official claimed that the provincial government has the capacity to install its own technology in oil production up to some extent.

He also said that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervaiz Khattak is also taking keen interest in Oil and Gas sector development of the province. While according to official hand out “the mandate to put the province at highest level of oil production was given to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) and its team under the one window opera-tion has already completed require survey of the oil blocks. The department has deposited millions of the rupees in the government treasury in term of reality, production and bonus in the past few years, the statement read.
